The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and security of the enterprise network infrastructure. This role combines traditional network engineering responsibilities with cybersecurity-focused operational support to ensure secure, reliable, and resilient network services across on-premises and cloud environments. The position requires hands-on experience with routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and network troubleshooting, along with an understanding of network security principles, monitoring, and secure access controls. The role also requires foundational knowledge of cloud networking and cloud security concepts.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, configure, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure.
- Support routing, switching, wireless, and secure remote access technologies, including VPNs.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, latency, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud networking issues.
- Configure and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS, network segmentation, and access control solutions.
- Support secure network design and implementation practices across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Support cloud networking configurations, secure connectivity, and access policies across cloud and on-premises environments.
- Support identity and access control concepts within cloud environments.
- Monitor network performance, availability, capacity, and security events.
- Perform network upgrades, patching, hardware/software maintenance, and change management activities.
- Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configuration standards.
- Assist with incident response, firewall rule reviews, network security audits, and vulnerability remediation.
- Support network hardening and operational reliability efforts.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems, and application teams to support infrastructure requirements and improve network security posture.
- Participate in network architecture, infrastructure modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- May require after-hours maintenance, on-call support, and incident response participation.
- Periodic travel required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 3–6 years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure support required. Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise network environments, network security technologies, and operational security practices. Experience with Cisco products, cloud networking, and security administration preferred. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, Network+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent certifications are preferred.
